The North American Music Awards is
an independent regional awards event founded in 2006 that highlights rising independent artists, diverse genres, and local music culture across more than 30 categories.
History and Background
- Founded in 2006 by Tyrone K. Johnson and Anthony R. Deloach.
- Hosted its first ceremony in 2007 at the Kehoe Center in Shelby, Ohio, before moving around Ohio including Mansfield.
- Structured as a family-friendly, red-carpet event focused strictly on independent and emerging musical talent, Poets, Community Pillars, Radio stations, podcasters, and on-air Talent.
- In 2023 Danny Holmes, and Conswella Johnson Joined The staff as President, and Vice President
- 2026 Danny was promoted to Assistant Director; Conswella was promoted to President.
- Features over 30 distinct music and performance categories.
- Allows public nominations and fan voting via direct email submissions to organizers.
- Emphasizes a clean environment with rules against smoking, and outside food.
